"Walk Away Renée" is a song written by Michael Brown, Bob Calilli and Tony Sansone for the Left Banke, released as a single in July 1966. Steve Martin Caro sings lead. Here is my cover of it with the Yazoo Ramblers, which I posted to the channel on June 26, 2026.
It spent 13 weeks on the US charts and peaked at No. 5, and it is widely considered a quintessence of baroque pop. Musician Marshall Crenshaw said it is one of the most powerful songs he has heard "in terms of provoking an emotional reaction."
